Objectives |
(i) To improve professional competence of Senior & middle level extension functionaries in the areas of extension management, training management and communication management and that of Subject Matter specialists in the areas of Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry & allied disciplines – both working under States/Union Territories, though NTCs, STCs, Regional & Overseas Training Programmes. (ii) To create and strengthen training infrastructure at National, Regional and State/UTs levels for organizing effective training programmes through MANAGE, Extension Education Institutes (4) Centres of Excellence (16), Selected SAUs, ICAR Institutes & other Central Institutes. (iii) To strengthen extension & training support to NE Hill States, Sikkim, Goa, & UTs by providing adequate financial support on priority basis. (iv) To expose farmers of less progressive States to the latest production technologies followed by their counter parts in progressive States through Exchange visits of farmers. |
| Salient Features | This scheme has the following 11 components: 1. National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management 2. Extension Education Institutes (EEIs) 3. Training of Extension Personnel in India 4. Training Abroad 5. Higher Training to Subject Matter Specialists/Agriculture Extension Officers/Village Level Workshops 6. Procurement/Printing of Training Manuals 7. Training & Extension Support to Uts/including Goa & Sikkim 8. Exchange Visit of Extension Functionaries 9. Exchange Visit of Farmers within the country 10. Centres of Excellence for Training (C.E.Ts) 11. Training & Extension Support to NEH States. |
| Pattern of Assistance | 100% Financial Assistance from Directorate of Extension, Department of Agriculture and Cooperation, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India, in the form of grant in aid & on account advance. |
