| Objectives
|
1.
To provide financial security & income stability to the breeder
/ seed growers in the event of failure of seed crop. 2.
To strengthen confidence in the existing seed breeder/ growers and
stimulate participation of new breeder/ growers to undertake seed
production programme of newly released hybrid/improved varieties. 3.
To provide stability to the infrastructure established by the state
owned seed corporations/state farms. 4. To
give a boost to the modern seed industry to bring it under
scientific principles. |

features |
To cover the risk
involved in seed production at field stage , loss in expected raw
seed yield, loss of seed crop after harvest so that more number of
the breeder/ institutions/ organisations/ seed growers would take up
and come forward in seed production. |
| Pattern of
Assistance |
100% Grant by government
of India, Ministry of Agriculture for publicity and Training of
personnel for the states etc. through General Insurance Corporation
of India.(GICI), Mobility / telephone/ telex/telegram/fax/postage
charges /stationary etc. for the state seed certification agencies
and seed producing organisations, TA/DA, workshop and miscellaneous
expenditure of government of India officials. However, grants given
to GICI is for risk sharing beyond 200%, on sunset
basis. |
| Eligibility
|
All seed growers in
public and private sectors of major seed producing states who
are willing to participate. The state covered Andhra Pardesh,
Orissa, Gujrat, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pardesh, Punjab,
Rajasthan, U.P, Maharashtra, Chhatishgarh, and Uttaranchal. |

The scheme has been
launched with effect from Rabi 1999-2000. In the initial state, it
is for IXth Plan. For subsequent years, the position depends upon
the participation of other states. |

2000-01, the financial assistance was provided to the identified
states i.e. Andhra Pardesh, Orissa, Gujrat, Haryana, Karnataka,
Madhya Pardesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, U.P, Maharashtra for the
implementation of the scheme |
